Lawrenceburg Mayor Blake Lay was the featured speaker at the Friday, July 25 meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club, where he provided an informative update on the city’s current momentum and future outlook.

Mayor Lay spoke to Rotarians about the increasing number of residents moving into Lawrenceburg and the resulting growth in residential subdivisions, new businesses, and retail development. A highlight was the recent announcement of the Lumber Liquidators National Distribution Center, a major facility to be located on Motivation Drive. Lay noted that Motivation Drive has now been extended all the way to Buffalo Road to support this and other economic growth.

The mayor discussed the addition of Matthew Brown as the city’s newly appointed city planner, and praised the cooperative work of city departments and partner organizations. “Lawrenceburg is becoming a showplace for other communities,” Lay said. “What sets us apart is the strong working relationship between the city, county, sister municipalities, and public service organizations throughout the county.”

Lay addressed the growing demand for housing and discussed plans underway to alleviate the shortage. Projections suggest that Lawrence County’s population could exceed 50,000 in the coming years, further fueling the need for expanded infrastructure and housing options.  Looking ahead, Lay shared that Lawrenceburg is currently in the design phase for a new water treatment facility, expected to be operational by around 2031. He reassured attendees that the city’s current water system is performing well and emphasized the excellent availability of electric and gas services to support continued growth.

Mayor Lay concluded his remarks by recognizing the importance of collaboration with service organizations such as Rotary. He expressed appreciation for the club’s continued role in building a better Lawrenceburg.  The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club meets weekly and welcomes speakers who share insights into the community’s progress and challenges. The club remains committed to service above self and to strengthening partnerships that benefit Lawrence County and beyond.
