Unemployment rates rose in all 95 Tennessee counties in June, driven by seasonal employment changes such as school breaks, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).

While the statewide rate is seasonally adjusted, county-level data is not, making it more sensitive to temporary employment shifts.

Despite the increases, 71 counties maintained rates below 5%. Sevier and Cheatham counties posted the lowest unemployment rates at 3.2%, followed by Williamson and Wilson counties at 3.3%. Perry County reported the highest jobless rate at 6.2%, a 1.4-point rise from May. Johnson and Meigs counties each recorded rates of 5.9%.

The seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rate for June was 3.5%. Nationally, the rate stood at 4.1%.

Tennessee’s Virtual American Job Center offers a range of employment resources, and in-person support is available at American Job Centers across the state.

The TDLWD will release July’s statewide unemployment data on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. CDT.
