Dr. Danny (Dan) Glen Jennings

Dr. Danny (Dan) Glen Jennings, age 77, of Lawrenceburg, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was a native of Lincoln County, Tennessee, but lived most of his adult life in Lawrenceburg, where he practiced veterinary medicine for 52 years, retiring in February of this year. He was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Auburn University Veterinary School. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner with an interest in almost every topic, especially animals, plants, and traditional crafts. He was an expert woodworker, taking particular pride in his Windsor chairs and other pieces of furniture. He also excelled at blacksmithing, making both artistic and practical items for his farm.

Dan’s pride and joy was his family. He was happily married to his beloved wife, Jane Mason Jennings, for 56 and a half years. He was devoted to his four children and ten grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Dan loved being outdoors, whether tending to animals, growing a garden, planting trees, or just enjoying nature. He was a man of faith in God and His goodness, and was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church. He had previously served as an elder in the Lawrenceburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years. He was kind and generous and lived out his faith by serving others. He cared deeply about injustice and used his gifts to alleviate suffering, whether animal or human, friend or stranger. He had an exceptional work ethic, a dry sense of humor, and a gift for listening to others and comforting those in distress.

Dan was predeceased by his parents, Walter Buford Jennings and Flossie Riddle Jennings, and his much-loved granddaughter, Ruby “Charlie” Becker, who passed away in April 2025. Dan is survived by his wife, Jane M. Jennings, his children Melissa (Wesley) Nimon, John (May) Jennings, Laura (Travis) McCall, and Janie Jennings; his grandchildren Thomas (Hannah), Mary Claire, and Oliver Nimon; George, William, and Julia Jennings; Daisy and Liam McCall; and Leona Becker. He is also survived by his brother, Buford Jennings, Jr. (Frances), and sister, Charlotte Jennings Riddle, as well as his nieces and nephews: Susan Davenport, Walt (Terri) Jennings, Todd (Kate) Jennings, Rob (Amanda) Mason, and Pam (Shannon) Jenkins.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Neal Funeral Home from 2pm-6pm, and the memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceburg on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 2pm, followed by inurnment at Copeland Cemetery in the Champ community on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:30am.
