A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday, as dangerously high temperatures continue to impact the region. The National Weather Service in Nashville warns that heat index values could soar past 105°F, with some areas experiencing even more extreme conditions.
Nashville is expected to feel like 111°F, while Waynesboro and Columbia may hit 110°F and 107°F, respectively. Other locations such as Clarksville, Waverly, and Tullahoma are forecast to reach heat indices between 103°F and 107°F.
Residents are urged to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. The National Weather Service recommends:
Staying hydrated
Limiting outdoor activities between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Checking on the elderly, children, and pets
The threat level for heat-related impacts is currently medium, but extended exposure or physical activity could quickly lead to dangerous conditions such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
