Increase In Thefts Prompts Warning from HPD

The Huntsville Police Department is reminding residents to lock your vehicles to avoid thefts.  During the past week, members of the department investigated 18 thefts from vehicles.  Of those 18, 12 had been left unlocked.  That means that 67 percent of these crimes could have been avoided simply by the owners locking their vehicles.  They ask that you be sure to lock your vehicle and secure your belongings before you walk away.
