City of Columbia Issues Scam Alert

The City of Columbia is warning residents and businesses of a scam.  Individuals posing as representatives of the city’s Development Services Department are sending out fraudulent letters and emails that include official city logos, requesting payment by way of wire transfer.  They emphasize that the city will never request payment through wire transfer and all legitimate communication from the city will originate from an @ColumbiaTN.gov email address.  Should you receive suspicious invoices or messages they urge you to contact the Development Services Department at 931-560-1530 to verify its legitimacy.
