Joel McKissack

Joel McKissack, age 69, of Leoma, TN passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at his residence. He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, a self-employed computer engineer, and a member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church.  He was a music editor for several southern gospel music companies, and has written hundreds of gospel songs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Harding and Eula Mae Holly McKissack; two brothers, Ralph “Tony” McKissack, Jr. and Jerry Ray McKissack.

He is survived by four children, Jeremy McKissack (Lynell), Waxahachie, TX,  Monica Wilkerson (Jason) of La Vergne, TN, Lee McKissack (Jessica) of Loretto, TN, and Krissy Webb of Lawrenceburg, TN; one sister,  Alice “Gaye” Hardy (Al) of Lawrenceburg, TN; two brothers, Fred McKissack and Mark McKissack (Melody), both of Leoma, TN; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2025, with John Pennington officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
