State Rep. Clay Doggett is encouraging families in House District 70 and across Tennessee to take advantage of the state’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday, which runs from Friday, July 25 through Sunday, July 27.

The tax-free weekend allows shoppers to purchase qualifying items without paying state sales tax. Exempt items include clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less, school and art supplies under $100 per item, and computers or tablets costing less than $1,500.

Doggett emphasized that the sales tax holiday can provide meaningful savings for families as they prepare for the school year. Eligible items such as shirts, shoes, backpacks, pens, and binders can be purchased tax-free both in stores and online.

Since 2011, Tennessee has provided more than $5.1 billion in tax relief to residents. The state collects no personal income tax and continues to rank among the most fiscally responsible and lowest-taxed states in the nation.

Doggett represents District 70 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Giles County and parts of Lawrence and Lincoln counties. More information about the sales tax holiday can be found at www.tntaxholiday.com.
