Florence City Council to Address Rezoning, Poet Laureate, Infrastructure at July 15 Meeting

The Florence City Council will meet Tuesday, July 15, at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall to consider a full agenda, including rezoning requests, infrastructure contracts, and the creation of a City Poet Laureate position. Public hearings will be held for rezoning 10.7 acres on Chisholm Road to multi-family residential and 42 acres on Erskine Drive to residential business. Other items include a $625,915 contract for sewer replacement, lease approvals for outdoor dining at two local restaurants, and a resolution to name a right of way Major Lathom Lane. The council will also vote on creating a City Poet Laureate position with a $1,500 annual honorarium and address several maintenance and service contracts. The meeting will conclude with public comments and reports from council members and Mayor Andy Betterton.
