Search Warrant Leads to Arrest, Drug and Weapon Seizure in Lynnville

A search warrant executed by the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and the 22nd Judicial District Drug Task Force on July 8 resulted in the arrest of a Lynnville man and the discovery of drugs and firearms inside a local residence.

The operation took place at a home in the 100 block of Ella West Circle, where law enforcement officials conducted a planned search as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity.

Following the search, Jonathan Abernathy Jr. was taken into custody on multiple drug and firearm-related charges. He faces two counts of Manufacturing, Delivering, Selling, or Possessing a Controlled Substance; one count of Manufacturing, Delivering, or Possessing Methamphetamines; one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; one count of Possessing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony; one count of Simple Possession; and one count of Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.

Images released by the sheriff’s department show a firearm, suspected narcotics, and drug paraphernalia found at the scene. Authorities emphasized that the investigation was carried out with the assistance of multiple agencies.

Officials also reminded the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
