Two men from Athens are behind bars following a targeted shooting late Monday night that left one person injured and an occupied home struck by gunfire. The incident began earlier on July 7, 2025, around 6:00 p.m., when deputies responded to a domestic violence call on Poplar Point Road. During the investigation, 50-year-old Bradley Joe Hall of Athens reported his vehicle had been damaged, although he was not directly involved in the original domestic dispute. Hall allegedly warned deputies that if they didn’t find the offender, he would take matters into his own hands. Later that evening, Hall contacted 34-year-old Jonathan Clayton Moore, also of Athens, and shared his intention to kill the individual he believed was responsible. Moore agreed to drive Hall to the victim’s location. Around midnight, the pair located the victim walking along a roadway. Hall exited the vehicle and shot the victim in the face. During the shooting, bullets also struck an occupied residence nearby. The suspects fled, but witnesses provided deputies with descriptions of the individuals and their vehicle. Deputy Roland Hipolito quickly located the suspect vehicle and arrested Hall at the scene. Moore fled on foot into a nearby cornfield. Law enforcement, including investigators and deputies, searched throughout the night and into the following morning. Moore was eventually found in the 13000 block of Nancy Lou Loop. He was reportedly armed and refused to exit a residence. The Limestone County SWAT Team was deployed and safely took Moore into custody without incident. Bradley Joe Hall has been charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Jonathan Clayton Moore has been charged with attempted murder. Both men were booked into the Limestone County Jail. Bond had not been set at the time of the report. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin praised the efforts of all personnel involved, highlighting the teamwork and dedication that led to a swift resolution and ensured community safety.
