As part of its Independence Day traffic safety efforts, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has scheduled multiple sobriety checkpoints across southern Middle Tennessee for the July 4–5 weekend. The increased enforcement aims to deter impaired driving and reduce alcohol-related crashes during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

On Friday, July 4, THP will set up sobriety checkpoints at the following locations:

  • Giles County – U.S. Highway 31 near the 14-mile marker
  • Wayne County – SR 13 North at the U.S. 64 underpass
  • Marshall County – State Route 50 at the 0-mile marker
  • Lincoln County – SR 121 at the 2-mile marker, west of Elora

On Saturday, July 5, enforcement will continue in Lewis County, where a checkpoint will be conducted on U.S. Highway 412, approximately 0.2 miles east of the 1-mile marker.

These checkpoints are part of THP’s ongoing mission to keep Tennessee roads safe, especially during holidays when impaired driving incidents tend to rise. Troopers urge drivers to make safe choices: don’t drink and drive, always wear a seatbelt, and arrange for a sober ride if needed.

THP encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly and help ensure a safe holiday weekend for all.
