The American Veterinary Medical Association is urging pet owners to prep their pets for the inevitable Fourth of July fireworks. The loud noise often startles pets, prompting them to run away in search of a safe place to hide. Pet owners are urged to keep pets at home, indoors if possible, or in an escape-proof room or crate. You should make sure that your pet is outfitted with ID tags with up-to-date information. Horse owners are encouraged to mark horses’ halters with contact information, as well. If possible, microchipping provides you with excellent odds of being reunited, should you and your pet become separated.
