The Lawrence County Commission will hold a special session on Monday, June 30, 2025, to address a full agenda that includes budget decisions for the upcoming fiscal year, employee policy updates, and key agreements affecting county operations.
The session will open with two honorary resolutions. One recognizes the 2025 Summertown Lady Eagles Tennis Team for a championship-winning season, and the other honors Summertown High School student Cavan Love for capturing the 2025 SkillsUSA Tennessee State Championship in welding. Both resolutions are sponsored by Commissioner Scott Franks and County Executive David Morgan.
Public comments will be accepted on agenda-related items, with each speaker allowed up to three minutes, followed by the election of notaries.
Fifteen resolutions are set for consideration, covering a range of financial and administrative matters:
• Approval of non-profit and charitable contributions
• Distribution of hotel-motel tax revenue
• Establishing the tax levy for fiscal year 2025–26
• Appropriations for county departments, agencies, and institutions
• Amendments to holiday pay and compensatory/overtime policies for county employees
• A one-time fund transfer from the Solid Waste Fund to the General Fund
• Increasing litigation taxes for General Sessions Court
• Budget amendments for the current fiscal year
• Amendments to the Lawrence County Board of Education budget
• An interlocal agreement with the City of Lawrenceburg for animal shelter operations
• A contract for mobile dental services for inmates at the county jail
• Authorization of a construction contract with Doss Brothers, Inc. for the new county health department building
• Amendments to the county’s worker’s compensation policy
• A one-time contribution to Lawrence County Fire and Rescue, Inc. from the projected 2024–25 budget surplus
County Executive David Morgan is the sponsor or co-sponsor of each resolution, with support from various county committees.
The session is expected to shape the financial and operational direction of Lawrence County as officials finalize plans ahead of the new fiscal year beginning July 1.
