The city of Florence is putting over $800,000 in grant money to work this summer, funding a variety of community improvements. More than $400,000 is going toward major upgrades at the city’s RV park, including new camping pads, utility upgrades, and improved Wi-Fi—enhancements expected to attract more visitors and benefit locals.
Additional funds are supporting popular events like Music in the Park and the Stars and Guitars Festival, as well as updates to the Handy and Broadway Recreation Centers. Part of the money will also help build an inclusive playground, all while easing the financial burden on taxpayers.
City officials, including Parks and Rec Director Bill Jordan and Councilman Jimmy Oliver, emphasized the impact of these improvements on local quality of life. They say more efforts are underway to secure future grants for continued progress.
