As one of just 383 projects nationwide chosen from over 3,450 applicants, Downtown Lawrenceburg is pleased to announce its selection as a 2025 AARP Community Challenge grantee. This program, which is supported by AARP Tennessee and AARP Livable Communities, funds short-term initiatives that make communities more livable for people of all ages. With the help of this funding, Downtown Lawrenceburg will open a mobile mini golf course that encourages fun, exercise, and community connection right in the heart of downtown Lawrenceburg. The setup will be present at events and activities all year long, promoting social interaction, movement, and low-impact exercise—particularly for people over 50 who are looking for innovative, approachable methods to be active and involved. “We are incredibly proud that AARP selected Downtown Lawrenceburg for this investment to make our community more livable for residents of all ages,” said Michele Gantz, Downtown Lawrenceburg Executive Director. “This grant allows us to bring an innovative, joyful project to life that aligns with our mission of building a vibrant and inclusive downtown.” With mobility, accessibility, and pure play in mind, the portable mini golf course will be created to provide a lighthearted and enjoyable way to get people moving, socialize, and enjoy public space during special downtown events, community festivals, and Final Fridays.
