At its regular meeting on Friday, June 13, the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club heard an inspiring presentation from Rotarian Tina Holt on her work with Advocates For Africa, a Christian ministry focused on bringing hope, compassion, and education to the people of Rwanda. Holt, a long-time supporter of the organization, shared stories from her multiple mission trips to Ruhula, Rwanda. She emphasized the vital work being done through the Life Center, where children receive care, education, and spiritual support. Among the many impactful programs, the group provides school uniforms, daily meals, and classroom instruction through Advocates Christian Academy (ACA). A new ACA Middle School is currently under construction to expand the reach of their mission. Highlighting the tangible impact of giving, Holt noted that just $17 can feed a child for an entire month. She also shared her personal sponsorship of several Rwandan children, a commitment also taken up by fellow Rotarians Tiffany Cope and Maria Santini, who sponsor children through the organization. Most of the organization’s funding comes from a single major donor, but Lawrenceburg Rotary Club has proudly supported Advocates For Africa with cash donations for the past two years and voted to continue that support into the coming year. Holt contrasted the ministry-run school with government-run schools in Rwanda, praising the greater individual attention and care provided through Advocates. She encouraged others to learn more or get involved by visiting advocatesforafrica.org. The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club, part of Rotary District 6760, is committed to service above self and continues to support both local and international projects that promote education, humanitarian service, and peace.
