According to a local news source, the trial of a Decatur chiropractor Brian Mann, 36, has begun. He is accused of attempting to kill his wife by poisoning her with lead. Mann is charged with attempted murder in connection with an event that occurred in September 2022. Mann has pleaded not guilty in the case. The state brought five witnesses, one of which was Hannah Mann, 25, his wife. According to her testimony, she started taking daily vitamins from her spouse, which she said made her feel extremely ill and in pain. Her husband obtained large life insurance policies in her name during this period, she further disclosed. The existence of these policies was verified by a State Farm representative. Hannah’s mother viewed her daughter’s relationship with Brian Mann as problematic and said that her daughter’s health was difficult. Regarding the installation of lead walls at Mann’s chiropractic business, the owner of a construction company testified. He claimed that Mann was given the remaining lead supplies and promised to dispose of it. Although the testing has not yet been finished, the Hartselle Police Chief stated in his testimony that he received material from UAB Hospital to check for lead in Hannah Mann’s body. The defense stated the state lacks evidence that is clear to indicate lead poisoning and called the trial “a bunch of assumptions”.
