Following an altercation with another inmate on Friday, an inmate at Limestone Correctional Facility passed away. Montavius Banks and Justin Orlando Lewis, who were both serving 20-year terms for different acts, were involved in the event. According to correctional staff, Banks suffered serious injuries from an inmate-on-inmate assault involving a weapon. After being taken to a nearby hospital, he was declared deceased. The event is being investigated by the Law Enforcement Services Division of the Alabama Department of Corrections. Lewis is still in custody and will face assault charges. Banks, 31, was incarcerated for a Jefferson County burglary conviction. The 36-year-old Lewis was imprisoned for assault outside of Colbert County.
