The Lawrence County Emergency Medical Services has released its monthly statistics for May. Throughout the month, the department had a total of 675 requests, of which 459 patients were transported. Other than local transfers to Southern Tennessee Regional Lawrenceburg, 61 were transported to Maury Regional, 7 to Southern Tennessee Regional Pulaski, 17 to North Alabama Medical Center, and 49 to non-adjoining counties. Refusal of care and no care required calls were 120, cancelled calls and no patient found were 69, fire standby, law enforcement assistance, and mutual aid requests were 27, and community outreach was 4. Call volume was almost 20% higher than April 2025 and were 15% higher compared to May 2024. Responders were offered pediatric assessment and poisoning education in the month of May. All employees had a review of shock, treatment, and pharmacology for a new medication the department is utilizing to treat shock. Lawrence County EMS also hosted a regional education day in Lawrenceburg, where responders learned about brain and inhalation injuries, and completed a brain dissection lab to learn about neurology. Multiple community outreach events were conducted including CPR training with David Crockett State Park staff, First Aid/CPR with Christ Life Academy staff, Bleeding Control & Harm Reduction at Loretto Senior Center, and a show and tell event at Little Lambs Daycare.
