He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lucille Konig; his wife of 51 years, Joyce Ann (Judy) Konig; his brothers Gene, Dewey, and Gerry Wayne Konig; his sisters Betty Konig Shrader and Patricia Konig Bruhn, and two sons-in-law Ricky Davenport and David Brite.

A carpenter by trade for nearly all of his life, Dean’s energy was dedicated to his work in residential and commercial construction. Dean was also a proud veteran of the United States military, having served in the Marine Corps and the Army National Guard before retiring at the rank of Sergeant, First Class.
Throughout his life, Dean was an avid outdoorsman with a deep fondness for horses, farming, and hunting. He also loved to retreat to the banks of the Buffalo River for peace and quiet whenever he needed a distraction from his many projects and hobbies.
What will be remembered most about Dean is the overwhelming amount of love and compassion with which he treated every person. The family extends their sincere gratitude to his caretakers Beth Flewallen and Pat Martin for making his life’s final chapter one that was comfortable and filled with care.
