Three People are Shot with Two Dead After Columbia Police Respond to a Shooting Incident

The Columbia Police Department responded to a shooting incident at the 3000 Block of Somerset Lane on Saturday, May 31st, at around 3:07 PM. Officers found three people who had been shot when they arrived. A 46-year-old man named John Bidle was declared dead at the site. The 51-year-old Stacie Wright died during surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center after being transported. Additionally, a third victim with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to Vanderbilt. The defendant, a 46-year-old man, was arrested and faces two charges of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. Investigators continue to process the scene, question people, and go through the data. This investigation is likely to result in additional charges.
