The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, May 27th at 5:00 for a Regular Session meeting. The meeting included recognitions and several resolutions. The meeting began with congratulating and recognizing the Loretto Mustangs basketball team on their achievements for the 2024-2025 season. The bi-monthly financial report for fiscal agent and director of schools both passed unanimously. Election of notaries and report of resolution committee both passed unanimously as well. Next, the resolution to approve minutes of the January 28th meeting, resolution to approve amendments to the 2024-2025 Lawrence County budget, and resolution to approve amendments to the 2024-2025 Lawrence County Board of Education budget all passed unanimously. Next, the resolution to confirm appointment of Steve Hagan to various committees of the Lawrence County Board of County Commissioners was passed unanimously. Several other resolutions to pass unanimously included; to declare property of the Lawrence County Highway Department to be surplus property and approve disposal of such surplus property, adopting the policies and procedures for the HOME Grant awarded by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, and designating gift to the Lawrence County Public Library to be placed in a special interest will accumulate, designated for capital projects. Serval other resolutions that passed were; to purchase land adjoining the Lawrence County Public Library in partnership with the City of Lawrenceburg, increase litigation taxes for General Sessions Court in Lawrence County, and approve write off of library books from fixed assed system and maintain a spreadsheet to comply with the current capital asset policy. The last resolutions to pass unanimously included; to approve submission of application for “Small Cities” CDBG Grant for Leoma Utility District for construction of new water booster station and approve matching fund to be paid by Lawrence County Government, accept TPS Grant for the Lawrence County Public Library requiring $2,222.00 from the library and further match from private donation, and confirm appointment to Solid Waste Regional Board.
