Lawrence County EMS and Fire Rescue Respond to an Individual Trapped in a Vehicle Off a Steep Embankment

On Sunday night, just after 9:00 PM, Lawrence County EMS and Fire Rescue units arrived at a motor vehicle crash where there were reports of injuries. After arriving, emergency personnel were made aware an individual was pinned inside of the vehicle. After examining the scene, they discovered the vehicle was off the road and down a steep embankment. The staff prevented the vehicle and patient from falling farther down the steep bank by using the winch on the front of Chief 2’s unit. EMS and staff collaborated to get the patient into a strokes basket and secure them to safety. In order to securely convey the patient up the steep hillside and to the EMS unit for transport, fire crews and Constable Self constructed a rope/haul system. Lawrence County EMS transported both patients from the scene.
