If you’re traveling this Memorial Day weekend, The national gas price monitoring website GasBuddy expects some significant savings at the gas pump for travelers.

For Memorial Day, the national average is projected to be $3.08 per gallon, down significantly from $3.58 on Memorial Day last year.

This year’s relatively lower prices are influenced by lower crude oil costs amid an increase in oil production from OPEC.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) reports that, heading into the Memorial Day weekend, Southern states remain where the lowest gasoline pump prices are found, led by Mississippi with an average price of $2.66 a gallon, Louisiana was next at $2.72 a gallon and Alabama and Tennessee at $2.75 a gallon.
