The National Weather Service in Nashville will be taking all of their NWS transmitters offline today, May 20th through Wednesday evening May 21st for required maintenance and to make software updates to their area alerting system. During this time, none of the weather radios will work. Residents of middle Tennessee served by the Nashville NWS are advised to seek other means of getting the NWS notifications such as your local broadcast radio stations. The weather service is predicting possible severe weather on Tuesday highlighting the need to be weather aware. Some people residing within range may be able to receive warnings from NWS transmitters in North Alabama. Watches and warnings will be available on WLX, WWLX, WDXE, AND WKSR during this time. The AWIPS system is expected to back on line with the NWS transmitters and weather radios returning to service sometime late Wednesday evening.
