The Summertown Utility District Intends to File an Application with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for Improvements

The Summertown Utility District intends to file an application for financial assistance for Water System Improvements with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development. The specific elements of the proposed project include; develop another groundwater well for additional water supply on Caldwell Road, install a new raw water line from the well to the treatment facility, and upgrade the existing groundwater well pumping system. Also, upgrade the existing treatment system, such as adding filtration chemical feed and clear well capacity, replace the high service pump, and replace various sections of existing water lines within the water distribution system that are in poor condition. A public information meeting for all interested parties will be held on Monday, May 19th at 6:00 PM at 104 Shady Street, Summertown. The meeting will be to give the public an opportunity to become acquainted with the proposed project and to comment on economic and environmental impacts, service areas, alternatives and other issues. Representatives of Summertown Utility District will be available to explain the proposal and to answer questions.
