After biting a police officer after an altercation at a Florence Wal-Mart on Tuesday, a lady was taken into custody. The Florence Police were notified that the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office deputies had been involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle earlier that day. An officer from the Florence Police C.O.P.S. unit was at the Wal-Mart on Cloverdale Road trying to record a video of the car and its driver, who had been seen at the store earlier, even though the pursuit was canceled for safety concerns. The stolen car pulled into the parking lot while the officer was inside the store. Anika-Seani Diane Brady, the driver, was confronted by the officer. Brady struggled and bit the officer on the arm during the arrest, according to the police. A backup cop came to the scene and assisted the officer in taking Brady into custody. Brady was accused of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and second-degree assault on a police officer. She has a $5,500 bond and is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center. After receiving care at a nearby medical facility, the officer was discharged. This is still an ongoing investigation.
