On Mother’s Day, a man from Fayetteville, Tennessee, lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision near Chattanooga. Officers and firefighters were sent to I-75 North in response to an accident involving six passenger cars and a tractor-trailer, according to the East Ridge Police Department. When authorities and personnel arrived, two cars were actively burning. Multiple extrications were carried out by emergency workers, who prioritized lifesaving measures. Every individual involved had to be transported to a nearby medical facility. Due to injuries, they received in the collision, two persons lost their lives. Lane Smith, from Fayetteville, Tennessee, was one of the victims, while the other, who has not been named, is from Dawsonville, Georgia. Smith leaves behind his wife, Baleigh, and their two children, Sawyer and Brynlee. Smith was declared deceased from his injuries while his wife and two children were critically injured. In a GoFundMe, “Honoring Lane’s Life and Supporting His Family”, it is stated his wife and son both remain in a hospital in Chattanooga and their daughter was airlifted to Nashville for treatment. The collision resulted in two people killed and seven injured including Smith’s children. Law enforcement states that 65-year-old Joseph Antoinier was arrest on numerous felony warrants.
