According to WAYY31, a small child from Ardmore, Alabama is struggling with a serious health issue and is looking for assistance. Ruger Ennis, age eight, is a kind and lively child who only wants to be allowed to enjoy life like other kids. However, he is currently in dire need of a new kidney due to end-stage kidney disease. He was identified as having nail patella syndrome, a rare kidney-related disease. Additionally, it results in skeletal abnormalities, such as his feet being bent backwards and his kneecaps being absent at birth. Ennis currently receives dialysis three times a week for three hours each day while residing temporarily in Birmingham. Ruger said, “A few weeks or days ago, my mama asked me–somebody told her to bring me to Make-a-Wish. She said, ‘If you had a wish, what would it be?’ and I said: go to Disneyland and get a new kidney.” According to medical professionals, finding a living donor with O-positive or O-negative blood is Ruger’s best chance of living a full life. He might have a transplant in two to three months if that occurs. However, it can take nearly a year if he must wait on the national list. Email lovelikeruger@yahoo.com if you are interested in donating a kidney to Ruger. To follow his journey, you can also go to his Caring Bridge page.
