In an effort to improve the department’s ability to respond to structure fires across the city, Columbia Fire & Rescue is pleased to announce the addition of a brand-new 2025 Fire Master Tanker to its fleet. Built on an International chassis, the new vehicle contains a 1,250 GPM Hale QFlo pump and a 2,000-gallon water tank. The tanker can be used as a backup pumper when necessary because it is outfitted with fire hoses and other firefighting equipment in addition to carrying water. The $468,100 purchase represents the department’s first tanker of its sort and is part of continuous attempts to improve fire control capabilities in a range of emergency scenarios. The acquisition coincides with ongoing cooperation between the Maury County Fire Department and the City of Columbia via an Automatic Aid Agreement that guarantees resource sharing and mutual aid during emergency responses. As part of the arrangement, Maury County Fire will keep sending out its tankers to help supply water for structure fires inside city limits, enhancing the area’s overall emergency response system. The tanker is expected to be fully in service on Monday, May 12th following personnel training and equipment installation.
