New Prospect will soon get a new hot-mix asphalt plant. County commissioner, Rick Skillington, said that he’d just found out about it last Thursday. Rogers Group has acquired TDOT approval to build that plant just east of the New Prospect school between the Old Highway 64 and the 64 Bypass. Residents in the area say that there was no notification where the public could have any input on the project. Residents are concerned that fumes from the plant will be objectable. Skillington said that construction has already begun with no date for operation yet known.
