Karen Sue Chambers Russell passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023 at Maury Regional Hospital. She
was born on July 26, 1951 and was 73 years old.
Karen was a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She graduated from Elkton High School, Martin
Methodist College, and Tennessee Wesleyan University. She worked for many years as a physical
therapist in Giles and Lawrence Counties. She changed careers and worked in Huntsville as a scheduler
for the Space Program and Department of Defense.
She loved the history of Elkton and Giles County. She helped the Elkton Historical Society, the Giles
County Historical Society, the Giles County Board of Tourism, and served on the board of the Giles
County Trail of Tears Interpretive Center.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7 th , 2025 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Bennett-May &
Pierce Funeral Home
Funeral Service will follow on Wednesday, May 7 th , 2025 at 12:00pm in the chapel of Bennett- May &
Pierce Funeral Home with Bro. Brad Smith officiating
Burial will be in the Elkton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Community Rural Food Delivery c/o P.O. Box
1066, Pulaski, TN or to the Trail of Tears Interpretive Center c/o P.O. Box 16, Pulaski, TN
She was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Mary Dunnavant Chambers.
Karen is survived by her,
Sister, Wanda Smith of Elkton, TN
Nephew, Bro. Brad (Angie) Smith of Elkton, TN
Several cousins and friends also survive.
