With summer around the corner, more grills will be out and put to the test to cook the ultimate meal. Leaks or breaks are the primary cause of the 8,900 home fires that gas grills cause annually on average. Spend a few minutes preparing your grill and checking for issues before you light it up this season. The National Fire Protection Association gave a few tips on how to prevent fire outbreaks and safety measures you should always use. These tips include; propane and charcoal BBQ grills should only be used outdoors and placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches. Also, keep children and pets at least three feet away from the grill area and keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill. As always, never leave your grill unattended and if you choose to use lighter fluid, use only fluid intended for charcoal grills. Never use charcoal starter fluid to coals or kindling that has already been ignited. These basic tips can be the difference in saving yourself from injuries or damages from being made.
