According to the Saint Jospeh Police Department, justice was served this week in Lawrence County, Tennessee where a 42-year plea deal was made after horrific crimes were made towards children. Anthony Cox was sentenced to 42-years in prison due to the unimaginable crimes he committed against children. Cox is ordered to serve the full term of his sentence and will not be released for parole and will be 82-years of age when he can be released. Saint Jospeh Police Department gathered evidence, supported victims, and built a case that ultimately resulted in capturing this child predator. The department expressed how proud they are of each victim and their families for the courage they showed and want them to know they are supported on this journey ahead. The 22nd Judicial District Attorney Brent Cooper stated, “I am hopeful that this family can begin to heal now. These cases always remind me of two things: 1. Evil exists in this world. And 2. Good will always triumph over evil. We saw and heard that today in the words of one of the young victims. A display of courage and strength few adults possess nowadays.” Saint Jospeh Police Department encourages anyone who has been in this type of situation and fallen a victim to any crime to always come forward without fear of judgement or retaliation. Several members who helped to bring the family justice includes; Saint Jospeh Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Lawrence County School System, A Kids Place, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, and Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office.
