Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nelle Gertrude Chapman Harrison
Greene died April 30, 2025 after battling illnesses. She was born on April 17, 1936. She was 89
years old.
Nelle lived a wonderful life. She was married and raised 3 children. She had a master’s degree
from National Louis University and taught part-time at the local community college. She worked
for 7 years with the federal government and had a 32-year career with Sears Roebuck and
Company in Chicago Illinois.
She had many friends and family that she adored. She had an opportunity to live 35 years in
Illinois, 7 years in Texas and also lived abroad in Germany and Alaska. In her retirement, she
lived in Phoenix, Arizona and in Pulaski, Tennessee.
She was an avid reader, loved sports especially the NBA, loved playing bridge, watching movies,
shopping and enjoyed art and music and visiting with friends and family.
Nelle was known for her big smile, laugh and her ‘I love you’s’. She was a devoted Christian and
an active parishioner at St. Andrew Community Church.
She will be dearly missed. Mom’s life was well lived and we now begin to celebrate her journey
home.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3 rd , 2025 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Bennett-May &
Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 3 rd , 2025 in the chapel of Bennett-
May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, TN
She is survived by her three daughters: Glinda (Calvin) Goins, Liz (Rick) Krumrey, Michelle
(Jeremy) Greene. 6 grandchildren: Freddie Coburn, Jennifer Molina, Cassie (Todd) Grubich,
Chad (Jamie) Krumrey, Brady Nilsson and Zachary Nilsson. She is survived by 10 great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends. She was preceded in death by her
husband Robert Greene, her parents and siblings.
Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Nelle
Gertrude Chapman Harrison Greene.
