Susie Jenkins Boaz of Pulaski passed from this life on Monday, April 28, 2025 at
NHC Pulaski. She was born in the Odd Fellows Hall community on December
20,1924 and had recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was a long-time
member of the Providence and Second Street Church of Christ.
She began her work career as a clerk at Genesco, before she and her husband
Joe Boaz became entrepreneurs in the grocery business. Together they first
owned a full-service grocery in the north end of Pulaski, even offering butchering
services. Later, for 20 years, they would operate a “country store” that offered cut
and made on site bologna sandwiches and other lunch options. However, located
in the back of this store, was another store full of Susie’s antique treasures. This
was her true passion, attending auctions, collecting and selling unique old items,
especially those with an interesting history. Subsequently, her husband’s poor
health and eventual death forced them to sell their store, but she remained a
lifelong enthusiast of researching unusual items and locating antiques.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 2nd at 11:00 at Maplewood cemetery
with family sharing memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlon Lambert Jenkins Sr and Mamie
Pierce Jenkins, brother M.L. “Mug” Jenkins, Jr, sisters, Elizabeth Russell and
Brownie Jenkins.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Jerri Jenkins, nephew, Jeff Jenkins and wife
Diane of Pulaski, great nieces, Lauren Stafford and husband Keith of Rogersville,
AL, Savannah Jenkins and Taylor Rose Dunnavant and husband Zach of Pulaski
and great nephew, Jedidiah Jenkins of Bowling Green KY and two great great
nieces Jolie and Selah Stafford.
