The City of Columbia just completed the second installment of Columbia 101, a program meant to provide residents an inside look at how local government operates. On April 22nd and 23rd, the program welcomed a new group of participants eager to gain a better grasp of city operations. Columbia 101 provided a hands-on experience by combining interactive seminars, behind-the-scenes tours, and direct talks with city leaders to illustrate how municipal services work and how individuals can actively shape their community. Mayor Chaz Molder stated, “”It’s truly rewarding to see Columbia 101 continue to provide our residents with an invaluable look behind the scenes of their city government. This initiative is strengthening the vital connection between the City of Columbia and the community, cultivating a spirit of collaboration and shared ownership in Columbia’s future.” The newest session, like the previous, introduced visitors to the city’s twelve departments, including Development Services, Fire & Rescue, and Public Works. Participants were also given the opportunity to tour major buildings, learning firsthand about the focused efforts required to supply essential local services. Columbia 101 will continue to be offered twice annually and well always be open to Maury County and the City of Columbia residents.
