The Giles County Sheriff’s Department is joining the Tennessee Highway Safety Office in reminding residents to prevent distracted driving by setting your GPS before traveling. In 2024, 1 out of 414 crashes on Tennessee roadways involved distracted driving. Phone use is one of the most preventable causes of distracted driving. Officials urge motorists to prioritize safety by setting your GPS on your phone or in your vehicle before you begin to drive. Activate the “do not disturb” mode to ensure that you keep your eyes where they belong while driving.
