They claim to have asphalt that is left over from another project and offer it to the victim, demanding an immediate cash payment. The sheriff’s office urges residents not to fall victim to these scams. They warn residents never to ask for official ID, to verify that the person has an active Alabama contractor’s license, check references, and obtain multiple quotes. If you are in doubt, contact law enforcement to ensure that your are not being targeted by scammers.
