Alma Sue Williams Lanning, age 92, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was a native of Lawrence County, TN, and retired from Murray Ohio with 38 years of employment as the company’s switchboard operator. She was a lifelong member of New Prospect United Methodist Church,
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Nealy and Camilla Ruth Felker Williams; her husband, Thomas Lanning; and infant daughter, Belinda Ruth Lanning.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynn King (Tim) and Gail Dixon (Bill), both of Lawrenceburg, TN; four grandchildren, Matthew Dixon (Melissa), Kelsey King Lee (Justin), Anna Grace Dixon Underwood (Damon), and Kinsey King Simmerman (Alex); seven great-grandchildren, Alydia Underwood, Oakley Underwood, Amelia Underwood, Nicolas Dixon, Penny Dixon, Will Dixon, Josie Lee and baby Lee due in October.
She had a deep sacrificial love for her family, giving of herself through preparing meals and many other acts of love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought so much joy to her life! With grateful hearts, the family thanks Lisa, Holley, Rose, Georgia, Cheryl, Janice, and Bobby for their special care of our mother over the years. Special thanks, also, to friends who have faithfully kept in touch with our mother through visits, cards, and other gifts of love.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2025, with Mickey Brackin officiating. Interment will follow at Shaw Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to A Kid’s Place/A Child Advocacy Center or Grace House in Lawrenceburg. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
