The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) stated that 88 out of 95 counties reported a decrease in their unemployment rates, meaning that more Tennesseans were employed in February than they were in January. The unemployment rates in February and January were identical in two counties in Tennessee. There was an increase in five counties. Less than 5% unemployment was reported in eighty-four Tennessee counties. Rates in the other 11 counties were higher than 5% but below 10%. At 2.6%, which was two tenths of a percentage point lower than the previous month, Williamson County had the lowest unemployment rate for the month. For six months in a row, Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has been at 3.7%. In February, the national rate was 4.1%. County rates are not modified to reflect seasonal effects on employment, in contrast to the statewide rate. One of Tennessee’s American Job Centers offers free one-on-one career counseling to job seekers. You can visit the Department of Labor and Workforce Development for more information.
