Late Saturday afternoon in Lawrence County, the Lawrence County Fire Rescue responded to a hydraulic oil spill on Highway 43 South and Highway 101. Engine 15 provided water for the HazMat Clean-Up Crew. In partnership with Lawrence County Emergency Management and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, a safety barrier was established for traffic to protect those traveling in the area. The process took nearly four hours to ensure all hazardous chemicals were managed, removed from the roadway, and safe for all motorists to travel on again. Thank you to Lawrence County Fire and Rescue and the numerous other emergency personnel for responding quickly and ensuring the safety of the community.
