Over the weekend at Veterans Park, something new was installed to help the community. Loralei Lee, a local Cadet Girl Scout, set up three new dog waste stations with provided bags to assist in maintaining the park’s cleanliness. This project was the last task Loralei needed to finish to receive her Silver Award, which is the highest honor for a Cadette Girl Scout. She proposed her project to the local Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs, receiving sponsorships for 3 stations. She looked into different kinds of stations and consulted with Mrs. Pam Hyde at Lawrenceburg Parks and Recreation to assess the feasibility and organize plans for the project. Loralei made several trips to the park to identify the most suitable spots for visitors as well as for maintaining the stations and grounds. She immediately set up the stations and provided Director Hyde with a supply of bags for refilling the stations. Upon submitting her final paperwork to the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee and receiving approval, she will receive her award. The next step is to begin working on her Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve and is equivalent to the Eagle Scout. This is a wonderful contribution to the park and the community. Thank you, Loralei, and good luck in excelling in your future with Girl Scouts and more!
