Results from the March Regular Session Lawrence County Commission Meeting

The Lawrence County Commission met for a Regular Session on Tuesday, March 25th. The agenda includes a resolution for fifteen different points. Items included approving minutes of previous meetings, approving amendments for the 2024-2025 budget for the county and the Board of Education, confirming appointment of Steve Hagan to various committees, and declaring certain property of the Lawrence County Highway Department to be surplus property and approving disposal. David Morgan, County Executive, presented a resolution to adopt the policies and procedures for the HOME Grant awarded by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. Six more items were discussed by the budget committee, including designating a gift to the Lawrence County Public Library to be placed in a Special Interest-Bearing Fund, and which interest will accumulate and be designated for capital projects. Also, purchasing approximately a .76-acre tract of land located adjacent to the library in partnership with the City of Lawrenceburg for future expansion of the library, increasing litigation taxes for general sessions court, as well as, approving write off of library books from the fixed asset system and maintain a spreadsheet to comply with policies. Lastly, submitting an application for the “Small Cities” CDBG Grant for Leoma Utility District for the construction of a new water booster station and approving matching funds to be paid by the Lawrence County Government. All items passed in the meeting and under suspension of the rules, Commissioner Will Burnett was appointed to the Regional Solid Waste Planning Board.
