Margaret Jane Newton Brown Obituary
Margaret Jane Newton Brown, age 78, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System of Lawrenceburg.
She was a native of Lawrence County, TN and raised in the Pleasant Point Community. She was the seventh of nine children born to the late Clarence Homer Newton and Rubye Thompson Newton. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Avanell Newton Lumpkins and Martha Elaine Newton Turner Johnson; three brothers, Clarence Harold “Bud” Newton, Charles Robert “Pete” Newton, and William Glenn Newton.
She was retired from Hale Products Inc as an Independent Image Consultant with BeautiControl. She was a 1964 graduate of Loretto High School. She enjoyed traveling and was blessed to see the beautiful countries of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. She loved the USA and visited many of the states including Hawaii. She liked to shop for antiques and usually bought a treasure for the “attic”. She enjoyed baking cookies and sharing them with family, friends, and neighbors, enjoyed sending cards to her family and friends and loved company.
She was a Christian and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg. She also served as an I AM FOR KIDS mentor.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Ray Brown; two sons, Kenneth Newton Brown of Culleoka, TN and Phillip Ray Brown (Kathy) of Summertown, TN; four grandchildren, Justin William Brown and Caitlin Marie Brown Lewis of Sumter, SC, Bailey Newton Brown and Kazdyn LaRue Brown Sanderson (Logan) of Summertown; four great-grandchildren, Rowan and Skyler Brown, Kaylie and Hadley Lewis of Sumter, SC; three brothers, James “Jim” Edward Newton of Bryant, AR, Harry Don Newton (Cathy) and John Michael “Mike” Newton (Jeanette) of Loretto; seven nieces, Suzanne Gray, Marti Riley, Selena Schwind, Tammy Smith, Kay Smith, Lynn Martin, and Beth Johnson; ten nephews, Harold Newton, Robby Newton, Tracey Newton, Jeff Turner, Ed Newton, Terry Newton, Stephen Newton, Mark Newton, Christopher Newton, David Newton, David Martin; special friend, Amy Yarbrough Ayers; several grand-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She loved her in-laws, William and Flora Collier Brown, William Harold Brown, Ronald Brown, Deborah Joan Brown Carter, and Robert Larry Brown. Her family was dear to her and she was the happiest when they were all together for family meals. Her prayer was that all her family members know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Immanuel Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2025, with Keith Durham and Reggie Coleman officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
