Devin Ezell, Director of Public Health for Lawrence, Giles, and Wayne Counties, visited the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club on Friday, February 28th, 2025. The Tennessee Health Department’s mission is “To protect, promote and improve the health and prosperity of people in Tennessee.” Ms. Ezell has been the local director for eleven years. She provided an overview of services provided by the Health Department, including WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) supplemental food program, Vital Records, Environmental Health, Child Health/Immunizations, Emergency Preparedness, and Primary Care services for uninsured adults ages 19-64. The local Health Department has partnered with local and regional organizations, including Second Harvest Food Bank, Grace House, and others, to provide local outreach with most of its funding provided by the State of Tennessee, supplemented by DGA grants through the state, and facilities provided by the County Government. Ms. Ezell gave a brief overview of the department’s new facility, which will have improved public access and expanded space for primary care and other services provided by the department. Architectural design is in progress, and the facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2026. Rotarian Teresa Purcell introduced the program.
