Members of the Ethridge City Commission held a discussion during their February 24 meeting regarding the condition of Main Street.  Main Street lies along a portion of Ethridge Redhill Road, which is a state roadway.  While the city’s portion of the roadway was built to handle residential traffic, it was not constructed to handle heavy traffic of logging and semi-trucks that currently use it as a cut through from Highway 43 to Highway 64.  The city tried to obtain state grant funds to offset paving costs, but were told that they do not qualify as a “small city.”  City officials hope to arrange a meeting with state representatives to discuss the matter.
