Missing Boater Found Deceased in Colbert County

According to Shoals Insider, authorities have identified a missing boater who was discovered deceased late Monday afternoon at Eagle Point Island, close to Riverton Rose Trail. Colbert County Deputy Coroner Matt Moore confirmed to Shoals Insider that the victim was Steve Allison, 74, from Lauderdale County. “The call came in from Lauderdale County EMA at around 4:40 PM.,” said Colbert County EMA Director Jody Hitt. “We launched a recovery operation after reports came in that he was found near his boat.” Allison’s boat drifted from the Lauderdale to the Colbert side of the Tennessee River, and officials believe he died as a result of his physical condition. The Colbert County Sheriff’s Department, Alabama Marine Police, Nitrate City, and Riverton Rose Trail Volunteer Fire Departments also helped with the operation.
