The recent heavy rains and winter weather have resulted in an excess of potholes on interstates and state roads. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has already launched a statewide effort to restore the damaged sections as soon as possible, drawing on all available resources, including contractors. Several crews will be fixing potholes in the following days and weeks. Cold mix asphalt is now being used for temporary repairs. Asphalt plants produce more hot mix in the spring and early summer, making it easier to make permanent repairs. Motorists should expect short-term traffic delays during these pothole repair efforts. Every attempt will be made to complete repairs during off-peak travel periods between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays and certain lane closures may last into the late afternoon, evening, or weekends. Drivers, be patient and watch out for TDOT crews on interstates and state roadways. Remember to slow down and move over. You can report a pothole by calling the TDOTFIX Hotline at 833-TDOTFIX or by submitting an online maintenance request form on the www.tn.gov/tdot website.
